HERMENEUTIKA SPIRAL RICOEUR DALAM PENAFSIRAN APOKALIPTIK: REKONSTRUKSI METODOLOGIS KITAB WAHYU DALAM KONTEKS PENDERITAAN MINORITAS KRISTEN DI INDONESIA

ABSTRACT
The interpretation of apocalyptic texts, particularly the Book of Revelation, has often been dominated by literalist and speculative approaches that overlook its symbolic, theological, and contextual dimensions. This study aims to reconstruct a methodological framework for interpreting Revelation through Paul Ricoeur’s spiral hermeneutics. This research employs a qualitative theological approach with a descriptive-critical hermeneutical analysis. The primary data consist of selected passages from Revelation 1, 13, and 21, which are examined through three interpretive stages: pre-understanding, explanation, and appropriation. The findings indicate that Ricoeur’s hermeneutical spiral enables a transformative reading in which the meaning of Revelation is continuously interpreted through the dynamic relationship between text, reader, and context. In the context of Christian minority communities in Indonesia, Revelation should not be reduced to a predictive eschatological text, but understood as a theological narrative that shapes identity, resilience, resistance, and hope.

ABSTRAK
Penafsiran teks apokaliptik, khususnya Kitab Wahyu, sering kali didominasi oleh pendekatan literalistik dan spekulatif yang mengabaikan dimensi simbolik, teologis, dan kontekstualnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekonstruksi kerangka metodologis penafsiran Kitab Wahyu melalui hermeneutika spiral Paul Ricoeur. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan teologi kualitatif dengan analisis hermeneutik deskriptif-kritis. Data utama penelitian terdiri dari bagian-bagian terpilih Kitab Wahyu, khususnya Wahyu 1, 13, dan 21, yang dianalisis melalui tiga tahap penafsiran: pra-pemahaman, penjelasan, dan apropriasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hermeneutika spiral Ricoeur memungkinkan pembacaan transformatif, di mana makna Kitab Wahyu terus ditafsirkan melalui relasi dinamis antara teks, pembaca, dan konteks. Dalam konteks komunitas Kristen minoritas di Indonesia, Kitab Wahyu tidak boleh direduksi menjadi teks eskatologis prediktif semata, tetapi perlu dipahami sebagai narasi teologis yang membentuk identitas, ketahanan iman, perlawanan, dan harapan.
